Founded during the year 1732 as the last of the original Thirteen Colonies is the state of Georgia, that is situated within the southeastern USA. It was the 4th state to ratify the Constitution of the U.S. on January 2, the year 1788. The state was named after King George II of Great Britain. The state of Georgia declared its secession from the Union on the 21st of January, the year 1861 and was among the first seven Confederate states. On July 15, the year 1861, the state of Georgia was the last state to be restored to the Union.
The state of Georgia is the ninth most densely inhabited state with 9,687,653 residents according to the 2010 US Census. 14 of the Counties in Georgia from the year 2007 to 2008, were amongst the country's 100 fastest-growing, coming in second only to Texas. Georgia has been known as the Peach State and the Empire of the South. The most densely inhabited city is Atlanta which is the capital.
Georgia is bordered on the west by Alabama, on the south by Florida, by South Carolina and the Atlantic Ocean on the east and on the north by North Carolina and Tennessee. It is the only state that borders both South and North Carolina. The northern part of the state is in the Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a mountain range in the vast Appalachian Mountains system. The highest point within Georgia is Brasstown Bald, that is 1458 m or 4,784 feet; the lowest point is sea level. The central piedmont of Georgia extends from the fall line to the foothills. Here, rivers flow down in elevation to the continental coastal plain of the southern part of the state.
The state of Georgia is ranked 24th in size amongst the 50 United States. It has an area of 59,425 square miles and in terms of land area; it is the largest state east of the Mississippi River. After Florida, Wisconsin and Michigan it is the fourth largest in total area. This term refers to expanses of water which are part of state territory.
During the year 2007, Georgia's total gross state product was $396 billion. Its per capita personal income was $33,499 which put it in 37th place across the nation. If Georgia was a country by itself, it will be the 28th biggest world economy.

This provides and estimated capital investment of $22.7 billion and employs over 112,000 Georgians.
